The speakers screw into the door sheetmetal. A 6" speaker is a direct fit.

6" you say? Alright, next time I get my door panel off, I'm gonna see what I can come up with for a mounting location. The thing is, I've got a pair of Infinity Reference components, and I think the magnets are too large to mount to the door sheet metal without hitting the window glass. I guess it's always worth a try though!

EDIT: I guess I do need to figure out the maximum mounting depth too.

Oops, perhaps I shouldn't have said "direct" fit. I had the same problem, and solved it with a pair of spacer rings cut from 6mm MDF.
