A mechanic told me that I may have a wrong temp sensor, near alternator, and may be affecting my cold idle (almost dies sometimes).

The previous owner installed this white colored sensor...typical colored sensors are olive green...

I measured the resistance of both while in a cup of cold and warm water....both measured within 0.1 Kohms.

Any hints here? Don't think there is a difference???

Main question here is ...do I need to replace the white sensor with a green one?

Will this make a difference in my cold idle?

Not real familiar with setting the idle at cold. I'm sure this is spelled out in the manual...but can someone make this simple for me?

My rpm goes up and then drops ...goes up, then drops when idling at cold. If I pull out of the driveway and stop at the stop sign...sometimes dies.

Suggestions?

That sounds like more than just the cold idle. More like something with a Vac. leak or the TPS. My car did something similar to this. It was from a combination of a Vac. leak and the TPS.

Check TPS out. Then check for Vac. Leaks.
