mdf is an excellent thing to use. i wish i could figure out a way to port the box so it would sound decent. sure you could port and be done with it but you ever heard a ported box in a trunk facing the rear as to one in an suv or somthin. you get sooo much more thump if the air has something to push back on the sub. if that makes any sence to anyone?

Why does everyone put like 4 15s and 10000 watts of amps in their cars? Seriously, I've never been able to stand anything more than 200 watts from a single 10. My friend put two 12s and a 760W amp in his car, and honestly it's too much bass, it ruins the music.

well this is my setup, its only twin 12" with 1000 rms and i plan on twin 15" with 1500 rms to each...

but each to their own, Ive done a few spl systems and had much better results in other cars... but thats the challenge

with twin 10's you could point them almost anywhere.

but as for kits no idea, but hell most basic system's can be fully built in 20 mins. so up to you if you buy it or build it.... hell its just a box when you think about it, how hard it that to build

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm Yeah.. Its just a box... BUT.. I have three slide rule thingies that i used to use to calculate the box dimensions and port lengths and all that jazz..

Eash Subwoofer has its own set of requirements to sound good, some do best in a seald enclosure, some in a ported and some in a band pass (screw bandpass..... ugh). Sealed boxes IMO are the best, but a sealed sub takes about twice as much powah to get the same sound level (but it will be a MUCH better sound) than a ported box... a ported encolusre will usually be much bigger and you not only need to know the size of the box, you need to know the size in relationship to the PORT size and Length.... AND you have to decide what frequency you are going to tune the box to before you even decide on the port size and length!!!!

I have a WHOLE bunch of PVC pipe and bell ends laying in the attic that i used to use for enclosures (you put a bell end on it to prevent "port Whistle"...) I'm been making potato guns out of them!!

In an RX... You best bet is a sub thats designed for a small, sealed enclosure, othewise.. you'll end up with a big assed, heavy box taking up all your hatch space..

I think the first picture posted is the way I'm going, Two sealed subs in small boxes that fit on the sides, behind the strut tower.
