do you think the FC i got was worth it.

hey i got a 86 GXL last month and juss wanted to see if you guys think it was worth it.
i got it for $950

it has a Street ported motor.
TII Hood
TII Mirrors
Kouki Tail Lights
Unknown Brand Japan Short Shifter.
89 Seats
91 Coupe wheels. 5 spoke
cone air filter
no air pump
no A/C
removed p/s belt
No Speakers
Removed Rear Window Wiper.
unknown Side skirts not put on.

decent interior, Clean carpets, seats.
flaws of the interior is that the covers that go on below the glow compartment is gone and the surround on the steering wheel is gone.

few dents on the car, and needs a paint job.
runs good.

what do you guys think? do you think this was worth it?

Wow, what a piece of ****.

BUT, for $950, if it really does run good, can you go wrong? I'd pay $950 for a beater RX.

My advice: beat the ever loving **** out of it and see how long it can last. Then when it dies, sell the spoiler and the mirrors, which seem to be the only things on it in decent enough condition to merit owning. Maybe the tail lights too.

And I hope you're not serious about getting that thing painted. Waste of money, man.

serious about painting it???? the paint looks like **** but the body looks pretty damn solid it's a california car, it's not easy at all to find a body that rust free around here Rust you know what i'm talking about. I've seen alot bigger pieces of **** on this forum than that,hey at least the car is solid and with a streetport and all the TII **** on it you really can't go wrong hey at least it's a 5 lug

i say get an s5 front and rear bumper, body moldings and paint the thing after fixing the dings and you will have a decent car after tinting the windows and cleaning the interior for relatively cheap

i payed 1000 for my tII, body looked better then yours, and the interior did too, but it had 133,000 miles on it and was destin to blow. so i say, if you have a good running motor and alot of the TII parts, no worries

ic.. really dont paint it? i was thinkin of doin a 200-400 dollar paint jobs.

also the car has 91k on it
and the previous owner did a rebuild

i kinda regret getting this now. i was really hoping for a tii
you who said u got a tii for 1k is lucky.

well in the end i think i could part it out and make profit.

Don't listen to any of these jerks, they're just jealous because you got a car with a lot of potential. Sure, you might have paid a little high for it but its now your rotary and it sure has a lot of potential.

Yes Paint It! but stick with the factory color and refinish the interior, when the engine goes rebuild it or replace it with a TII and then comeback with new pics and let everyone see your newly restored RX and most will be telling you what a nice ride you got.

You own a rotary wonder car, cherish it and take care of it.

what the **** are you all talking about? The car looks good man. Definetly paint it. she'll be sexy. with the mods done to it and stuff i can't see how you got a bad deal. I would have definetly got picked it up.

I would def vote that it was worth it. With a little money it will look fairly good.

I would try to pick up a S5 front bumper.
Get rid of that stupid sunroof thing.
Clean up those rims and maybe paint them black or something.
Either put a p/s belt on it or remove the power steering and go with a manual steering rack.
Put on the side skirts or show them to us so we can tell you what to do with them.
Paint it a nice factory color. Including the black plastic thingy (I forgot what they are called) that runs down the sides of the car.
Since it has a streetported engine pick up a REAL exhaust so you can actually feel the difference in it.
Pick up the interior peices from someone. (If you have a grey interior PM me. I would be willing to hook you up with those interior peices for cheap from my parts car.)

BINGO! Clean FC. Have fun.

it's around what i estimated it's worth on the west forum, but keep in mind if you plan to paint it: the hood is worthless in it's condition to ever look decent again, an aluminum hood cannot be repaired decently and it is smashed in pretty good, you can find a new n/a hood for dirt cheap or if you really want another T2 hood then you can find them for $150+.

I got my t2 with similar looking paint to your but the body was dent free for 1k. I dont like non turbo cars so it wasnt even an option but my car has 105k on it. I would say buy the turbo parts from an s4 and put them on your car if it had a rebuild and street port recenty it will be very quick with 6psi. lots of people sale the stock turbo/manifold/tmic for cheap once they upgrade. including me

I'd say you did just fine, with a decent paint job, and some small stuff you will have a good looking car, and the best part is your not too deep into it if you lose interest.

the more important question is do YOU think you got a good deal? yes you did well, very well.
I paid a considerable amount more for my GXL but there's reasons behind that. Oh and dont do a cheap paint job, when it comes to finish the cheap guy really dont know what their doing. either learn, and do it yourself, or find some place with good quality

I think it's a good deal. Straigh body, new rebuild, low mileage on chasis, modded, etc. Just get a macco paint job, or find a friend to hook you up with some paint. It'll look 100X better with some cheap paint.

I say good go, ol' bean.. Looks like a good car, sure, the clearcoat is peeling, but so was mine when I got it. If it was kept mechanically sound, AND has less than 100k miles on the body, I'd say you got a rather fine deal. . Not the best on the forum, but FAR from the worst. Oh, and I agree with staticguitar313 - Don't get the cheapest paint job you find. I had one on my old eclipse. you do get what you pay for. Try and save up 5 to 800 for a decent repaint (if you're going factory colors), and be happy with it.. a really good paint job will cost you much greater than a grand, so try to hit that happy median where you're happy with the quality of the job vs. the price. Remember: Most imperfections aren't visible at 90

yep me too. I wasnt trying to say its not worth it. if its street ported, the exhaust looks new, was a reman and the body only has 95k, its worth 1k. here in co, I got extremely lucky because most n/as people want 2k to 4k depending on year, miles and if its a vert.

i did buy my tII for 1k, but i also drove it around for a few maby three weeks before the motor blew a coolant seal, now iv (yes, with help from my parents) payed 1200 for a new motor, 675 for my clutch and fly wheel (could have used the factory replacement) about 500 on new break parts. and the list goes on and on and on and on. a street ported na will keep up with alot of tII's out there (mostly stock) and in the long run you'll be able to out last most every tII. i say save up, it seems like you have alot of tII parts, just go though and do the whole conversion. then, if you want to, but you a nice s5 13bt, or hell, even a RE
