do i have the wrong springs?
um i bought these ground control coilovers about 2 months ago, there second hand but still new in the box. i have tokico illumina's to go with them, i was puttin them together and i noticed these spings seem too short by atleast an inch in the front and a few in the rear even with the coilover all the way up. the numbers on the springs match the numbers on the box and the number on the box matches the numbers for the FC on ground control's site.
let me know what you think

mine were the same way....but the spring is much more stiff than the stock spring. trust me it does work. when you lower the car back down make sure the top of the spring lines up in the groove of the top plate. and yes you have to do that every time you jack up the car at let it back down.

as long as you drive safe and avoid huge pot holes like i should hope you do if you're driving a lowered car you will be fine. the only way they would come off the seat is if you were to jump your car.

well there are two differant types of the coilover for the fc, one that fits stock, tokico hp, tokico illumina, kyb agx and the other type fits only koni's.

Mine were/are the same, and the only way you are going to unseat the springs on the road is by catching some serious air (which doesn't really qualify as "on the road", does it?). My fronts don't even unseat when I jack up the car to swap tires (about once a week, for autocrossing), although the backs unseat from the lower perch (they jam onto the upper mount). When I lower the car, they often catch and then slip onto the coilover perch with a loud "sproing" - no harm done, but if I'm only lowering one side at a time, I try to make sure I guide the spring onto the perch more gently. Except when I'm in a hurry, like changing tires before an event.

If you are worried about the spring unseating, you can buy the 2.5in spring joiners and some helper springs. The helper springs are extremely low rate (like >50lb-in) and have flat coils so they compress down to a 1in-or-so tall spring spacer.
Oh, and shouldn't the billet hat be on the front setup? I think it goes in between the spring and the upper strut bearing.
