DIY stand alone fuel management for 120US DOLLARS!?!?!

Cant be much harder. The schematics/layout is very detailed and complete, and if you do have any problems, theres a message board with lots of people who have built them.

Im not planning on a MS, but ive fixed so many damn ecu problems with my S5 I can tell you exactly what sensors do what to the ecu when they fail, and more of the fun stuff. Basically, Ive been through every single thing the stock ecu doesnt like.

Hahaha, I know what you mean, still not sure what I'm going to do. Planning on leaving the full range TPS off the stock ecu, and swiping the narrow for the MS, removing the AFM and such, and going off the MS for fuel map, and allowing the ecu to run the OMP for me.

The car wont run without the MAF. It has a switch inside, and if its not reading a certain value, the car wont run. I dont know if its ignition, or fuel only though. But regardless, if the AFM did have to be present, it would not have to be in the airstream. Just rigged just above the minimum reading. The pressure sensor must be plugged in, and I believe the both of the TPS's.
If I was doing it, I would pretty much run the wiring with the MS as a piggy back, and just not use the injector outputs from the stock ecu, and leave the AFM totally off(if possible). Make the ecu think everythign is still as it should be, even though it will have no control over fuel. I havent been abel to differentiate between fuel and ignition cut from various sensors not beign present/working.

the MS has it's own pressure sensor, so i'd be using both. I don't think the ECU needs much to do with the narrow range TPS, I'm a bit curious as to how to control fuel delivery without the AFM (the only thing it'll hurt by removing it)

In the S5's, Im almost sure the "limp home" mode affects the timing as well as fuel delivery. That means the only thing youll realistically be able to remove is the afm.
I wasnt very clear last night, but I was just assuming that all of the sensors used solely by the MS would be in addition to the stock ones that the stock ecu will need for timing.

Just pulled this off the megasquirt site
"Megasquirt Version 2.2 Hardware
The theme of the V2.2 upgrade (last MS version is the V1.01) is two-fold - the first and most important was to implement circuit changes and modifications which we found useful from the vehicles currently running the MS V1.01 system (we are up to 42 known vehicles as of 5/24/02!). The second part of the "theme" is to make the board a little more flexible for DIY modifications, and the eventual addition of ignition."
Looks like there gettin close to solving the ignition prob.
I also seen something about a DIY ignition management system on this site
www.diy-efi.org
but it appears to be down now?

There are quite a few DIY EFI systems, though most are short lived and not wide spread. The last I read there were well over 300 cars running on v2.2, and megajolt should be on it's way soon

yeah just trying to keep the thread going, I love this DIY ****.
I ordered mine but I dont plan to use it on a 2nd gen.
I will just buy the s-afc until they get some ignition control.
the s-afc looks so pretty anyway
