disconnecting engine im stuck
hi all, im almost 1/2 done taking my 88 n/a out, but im stuck on this one wireing harness. its starts on the right side (passenger) and goes to top injectors (red) then the tsp, then the back of the alternator, then its on the other side of the engine, 4 colored plugs, then goes underneath the throttle body. Where does it go then? I cant figure out how to get it out of there.
If you need more detail, let me know. Thanks.

disconnect the UIM from the LIM and that and the dynamic chamber will come off. Then you can pull the harness out easier. There are 4 nuts and 1 bolt on the UIM, and three bolts on the dynamic chamber to disconnect. There are 2 coolant hoses to take off (one on the BAC valve) and then you can lift it away after disconnecting the wiring clips. If I'm too vague I don't mind doing a step by step.

step by step would be AWESOME!

Look at the engine removal and engine teardown pages. Those should help you a lot.

I wish I had pics lol. The Dynamic chamber is the squarish part that has the Fuel Injected 13b ect. highlighted in black. The throttle body is attached to that. The Upper Intake Manifold (UIM) is connected to the bottom of the dynamic chamber (looks like 4 tubes) and it goes underneath the throttle body and then connects to the Lower Intake Manifold (LIM), which bolts onto the engine block.
1. Disconnect the vaccume lines from the Dynamic chamber, and from the UIM.
2. Unclip the electrical connectors. There will be one on the TPS (its on the throttle body facing the front of the car) There is one connector on each of the secondary fuel injectors. There is one on the driver side of the car on the BAC valve (the blue and silver thing with three hoses coming off of it, connected to the dynamic chamber). There are two connectors right under the BAC valve (one goes straight onto the dynamic chamber, the other one to a device right underneath the BAC valve.
2. Disconnect the hoses. There are 2 coolant hoses that need to be disconnected. There is one on the back side (firewall side) of the throttle body, and one going into the BAC valve (closest to the front of the car). Under the BAC valve there will be 2 vaccume hoses, one small the other large. Disconnect those two.
3. The large Vaccume hose under the BAC valve does to a device that has an electrical connection on it, there are two bolts at the top (10mm) that you need to remove. Once that is off, you can see two 12mm bolts that are screwed into the dynamic chamber. Loosen them off so that the bracket they are holding down is loose. There is another one to your left, on the side of the dynamic chamber facing the front of the car. Loosen that off too.
4. Go to the passenger side and take off the secondary fuel rail. Then you can see 4 nuts where the UIM meets the LIM. Take those off. There will also be a long bolt that was directly underneat the secondary fuel rail. All of these are 12mm.
5. There are two 10mm bolts (one on either side of the UIM, very near to where the UIM and LIM meet) These need to be disconnected. Now you can lift the whole assembly off (the UIM, Dynamic camber, BAC valve and throttle body will come off at the same time) If it doesn't, then look around where it is catching and take whatever is holding it down off also. Come back if you have questions.
6. Now Plug the intake holes with something (unless ur doing a rebuild then it doesnt matter.) You will be able to see and unplug the rest of the wireing harness. You can also take the rats nest off at this point too. (its all the fuel and vaccume lines, looks like a....rats nest lol.) There are two, maybe three bolts holding the whole assembly to the block, right where the nest is the thickest.
Hope this helps.

Im most likly just blind, but could you give like if I was in side the car its infront of the dynamic or ... to the left of the dynamic...
haha im really stupid... please flame me. :0) I desirve it.
But wow man u type FAST! this is helping so much.

Yeh, too much MSN. That helps for the typing classes back in high school.
When you're standing on the driver side of the car, looking across the engine bay, its on the back of the dynamic chamber. It's cylindrical with blue highlights and at least 2 coolant hoses and 1 large vaccume hoses coming out of it.
