Digital Logicon?
Anyone know if they exist, and if so, where i can get one for my 86 gxl, i mean it would be a big difference, and it woudl look so much better. Ive heard talk but no confirmation of their existence.

Ive heard of digital J-Spec logicons BUT I have never ever seen one for sale or in anyones car. Ive looked in japanese mags and all the cars I've seen have a regular one like ours.
Someone probably put one in from a different car, someone saw it and spread the word about "JDM DIGITAL LOGICONS"

They do exist...in Japan. Here's a pic. On the right hand side of the logicon is actually a big digital display. It is hidden by the steering wheel, but I'm sure that there are some better pictures around.

I know it's a digital one because I've seen them before. This is unfortuneately the only picture that I could find, but I'll see what I can dig up.
I don't know if people are confusing the logicon with the dashboard, but it's the heater controls right under the center vents that we're talking about....

Yes, they did have climate controls. I know they were available in the '86-88 cars in Japan, I'm not sure if they kept it for the '89-91 cars.
Anyhow, it's a digital climate control where you set the temperature you want the cabin at kind of deal. They were only on the top models in Japan - GTX-Limited and GTX-Limited Special Edition.
And, yes, I do have an '87 Japanese dealer brochure at the house .
Even if you could get your hands on one, there's NO guarantees it would work. I know the Nissan 240sx/180sx/Silvia had a digital climate control in Japan, but the control unit was only part of the equation. There's outside temp sensors, sunlight sensor, cabin temp sensor, mix motor, all kinds of parts that work with it.
I wouldn't mind getting one to mess with it, though.

Yep, that's it - on the upper left hand corner is the digital temp readout, with the temp up/down buttons beneath that. All the other buttons are for vent location and stuff, I believe.

Remember, that ain't a stock car in the picture.
Oh, BTW, the Infinis just had the regular instrument cluster - no different redline or anything. Remember, the Infini was primarily a chassis package - the suspension and weight savings were what made it special.

Ok, I see the AC/Heater controls are FULLY push button and some LED readout in the corner.
This would be the J-spec Turbo II Automatic (aka TII GXL). The ONLY think I'd want out of this car is the automatic - for dragging
The logicon looks the same though:

The myth is true! Thanks for sorting that out Nick.
That's an RE Amemiya instument cluster. The RE Amemiya logo (in Japanese) can be seen on the speedo just above the odometer and on the tacho just above the needle. A mate of mine had a S4 that came from Japan with one. The speedo goes to 300km/h (188mph), not 360 (well my mates one did anyway). The tacho goes to 10,000prm and has no redline or shift buzzer.

I want that instrument panel! The tach goes up to 10,000 RPM and the speedo goes up to god knows what and it all looks OEM.
