difference in trannys?
guys, are the s4 and s5 transmissions the same or are there any differences?
My second gear synchro is just about shot, and I was thinking about just dropping in a new tranny. Would it be more cost effective to do that or to have the old one rebuilt?
TIA

There are some differences, but they are all bolt-in compatible.
As far as rebuilt vs. junkyard, consider this. Sure, it may cost $800 to have your tranny rebuilt, but with that you get a basically new transmission with warrenty. Something a $200 junkyard tranny cannot promise. I vote for "rebuild".
