Difference between OEM S4 and S5 NT Manual Driveshaft?

Anyone know what is different between the OEM S4 and S5 NT manual driveshafts? Both Mazdatrix and Mazdacomp list different part numbers for the S4 and S5.

The Turbo and auto tranny have the same driveshaft part # for S4 and S5. It's only the NT manual that appears to have changed??? Was there a design improvement made?

The S4 driveshaft has a damper at the front yoke. The S5 driveshaft does not have a damper because the S5 transmission has an internal balance weight on its output shaft.

Thanks. So an S4 driveshaft should be used with an S4 tranny and same thing goes with S5. I always hear people say the S4 and S5 tranny are interchangeable with only the mounting bracket being the required piece to change. Mazdatrix lists the part number for the non OEM replacement shaft as the same for S4 and S5 NA manual tranny - maybe the shaft has a damper?

I guess this boils down to it's okay to use an S4 shaft with an S4 or S5 tranny but an S5 shaft should only be used on S5 tranny? Is that right?

The diff mount is the same on the S4 and S5 NA so that's not an issue. It's a complete NA drivetrain, just wondering about the S4 vs. S5 driveshaft.

In the case of fitment, I believe both driveshafts are the same length and will fit either S4 or S5 cars.
