difference appearance wise between viscous & clutch diff & NA\T2

so i know the s4 has clutch type lsd and the s5 has the viscouse...sorta gay if u asked me lol. why degrade when it's a newer model...n e ways, on topic

since i'm going to order a tomei lsd, i need to know whether i have the viscouse or clutch type. Now, before anyone goes off on me about just chking the year n ****

my car is a GXL, but previouse owner gave it to a shop to swap in a t2 engine, i later found out it has a t2 drivetrain also, which i wasn't expecting. So i don't know whether it's a s4 or s5 drivetrain. I know it's a s4 engine though, since the ecu was a N332, making it a 87 t2 engine. jspec from what i can tell with the lines and all.

2nd part, i wanna figur out for SURE i have a t2 differential just in worst case scenario, so i don't order a tomei lsd then have to sell it. my drive shaft does look pretty beefy, but just incase it's a custom...

does anyone have any measurement on the NA\T2 lsd pumpkin? i can't find any of these info in the fsm. i tried....nudda

n e ways, n e guru care to help?

I'm not sure if this will help your question or not... the bump can't hurt anyhow

If you are lucky the LSD will still have the sticker on it that tells you to only use lsd oil in it.... i believe that same sticker should let you know if it is viscious or clutch based.

The viscious clucth isn't always worse than the clutch type.... in the good way it can't wear out.. in the bad way it activates more slowly.

my GXL didn't have a tag on the diff. saying LSD oil. Jack your rear wheels up off the ground block your front wheels, remove your e-brake, spin one of your rear tires, if the other spins the same direction you have limited slip. IIRC viscous breaks more, but has a better "feel", where as clutch type last longer but is less superior. maybe i have it backwards. Tii LSD is the best out of all of them i hear even FD owners swap to TII limited slip parts. I'm happy with my N/A LSD for now
