decided to order A'PEXi 89-91 intake
i have decided i am going w/ the A'PEXi power intake for 89-91 FC's from rx-7store.net
i read the comparison of the blitz, hks, k & n, and the A'PEXi. it said that the A'PEXi never needs cleaning, creates the most HP and still filters the best.
does anyone have complaints about it or a better one i should buy??

$145 is a lot of $$$ for a cone filter and a bracket to hold it in place.
If you think the extra $100 is worth the ~1 extra hp, then go for it.
I bought a Bonez kit when they first came out. If I could do it all over again, I'd go with the K&N cone, fabricate my own bracket to hold up the AFM and spend an Additional $5-10 on some sheet aluminum and insulation strips for a cold air box which the Apexi does not include.
Anyone who says an airfilter doesn't need to be cleaned is full of **** or doesn't mind losing hp every year they don't change or clean it.

save yourself some money and just get a k&n intake! though the apex intake does look good. but its way to expensive. i brought the bonez too and if i couold do it all over again i would go the cheap way and save money.

I spent $225 on a damn Weapon R intake. If I knew then what I know now, K&N all the way. $40 for the same quality. But hey, what ever keeps your nautical vessel bouyant, right?

Oh! I get it, like whatever floats your boat but in different words...nice. I like my APEXi intake just fine, looks and performance. I'd say K&N if your on a budget, but whatever.

Hmmm, K&N seems to suck in more "rocks" than I care for. I used to have that as a direct drop in filter for my stock air box on my 87 N/A and when I took out it out after a month's use, I found so much sand inside the stock filter box that I decided to put the original Madza filter back on. Had I gone K&N cone filter, I probably never see the sand left behind as it would've been suck into the engine leaving no trace of it. Yep Apexi might be might next setup as well, HP gain was slightly higher than K&N, wasn't it?

Well thiers no real truth to the filtering... Dust is ok to suck up im sure. I have the bonez but found a bonez wannabe for 40 bucks at a muffler shop... It looked axactly the same im surprized they didnt get sued. The only difference I saw was that gummy stuff that connects the filter to the rubber was shinier and probly less quality. But who cares ... Filter is filter u cant see through it , wich means it filters good enough. If I had a second chance I would buy the generic look alike for 1/3 the price.

wouldn't it have been better to get a $60 K&N filter, and use the money in some other place? Pineapple Sleeves? Electronic 6th Ports? Just some other place to pick up more than 1HP for the same amount of $

Despite what the ads say, I doubt you'll find a performance aftermarket fliter that'll filter as good as factory. The factory is much more concerned about no contaminants getting into the engine than searching for 1-2 hp.

Well you could prolly save some money and just get the adaptor separate from the filter. I think they sell them separate at www.horsepowerfreaks.com but the site is down right now.
