Damn! Overheating Tragedy Today..

Well... i talked to a buddy of mine and he found me a Test Only Smog Guy who was pretty shady.. since The Test only guys who are shady are hard to find it was a godsend... i was on my way there and it was like a 10 min drive from my house.. all was fine until i was nearing the smog station when i stopped at this red light and noticed my Temp was at "H" i was like oh ****... and then some nice lady next to my car yelled to me there was a bunch of smoke coming out the hood.. well i was stick between cars on both sides so right after the light turned green i turned into a Kragen auto place..i popped the hood and it was all the coolant gases spewing out of the overflow nipple thing that hangs out... the thing was the Nipple thing was pointed up towards my engine and i gently pushed it down.. that slightest touch made the overflow cap come off and gush hot freakin coolant all over my hand.. the most parts which got burned were my Pinky, ring, and Middle Finger...

upon walkin around a bit and waiting for the coolant to stop bubbling i came back to my car and checked it thoroughly The fan/Alt Belt was fucked... and the Alt and Air pump belt popped off.... well i couldnt do much about that even tho that there was a Kragen Right in fornt of my car i would rather take it home and do it there. So i called AAA and the dude came out and towed my car... very nice guy and took real good care of it hooking it up and such since my car is crazy low...

thats pretty much how my morning and afternoon went.. once i got the car to my house i let it cool off for several hours and got to work on the damaged belts...

All that just for a simple smog so i can register my car and try to swap in a TII engine.. oh well...

i just hope my car is still ok... which i think it is since the car did not seem to act funny when i pulled into the kragen... i guess i will know later tonight when i put on the final belt and see whats upp..

Same exact thing happened to me. I wasn't lucky at all.

Try turning it over now. My car ran fine for those couple seconds it hit H.

Then a half hour later when it cooled down I tried to start it and it did nothing. Turned out I blew a coolant seal.

After push starting it with a truck it ran but blew **** loads of white smoke. The rear housing had a serious leak. The next morngin I take a spark plug off and it sprayed water out like a super soaker.

It's happened to me before and I was lucky. The engine cooled quick enough that it didn't break the seal or warp the housing.

Just wait until you can try turning it over and then if it doesn't start to worry about how you will gather all the parts needed for a TII conversion.

That's what I'm doing.
I have all the parts except the driveshaft and downpipe.
I am going to get the core long Block I bought rebuilt so I'll have a fresh TII engine in my 88 GTU doing estimated 10psi.

DO THE COOLANT SEAL CHECK FIRST BEFORE YOU HEAT IT UP!!!!

If ICEMARK would get of his A-- and post it in the FAQ section, I wouldnt have to type it out..AGAIN!!!...

Okay, here it goes:

Fill the coolant system ALL THE WAY UP (ENGINE COLD!!!). Leave the filler cap off. Pull your EGI fuse. Crank motor. Geyser out of filler cap? Blown seals.
