Damn no fire!

I always thought it would be pretty cool to get some total flamage out of my pipes. I've got a straight pipe on my '89 GXL and the car doesn't quite seem to want to spit flames. I've seen many a rx-7's with straight pipes that spit fire and the pipe gets red hot and glows. I had my girlfriend follow me in the GTU and tell me if I shot any fire and after punchin it and taking it up to 8k rpm no fire! And what bothers me is my girlfriend was right on my *** the whole time in our GTU. And it doesn't even backfire nor is it even loud. It has a bonez straight pipe. Anyways should I be worried there's no flames or backfire?

The car runs great. But I noticed the car doesn't have as much pull as my GTU at high rpm. In fact my GXL has more low end and less high end than my GTU. My car doesn't smoke or hesitate either.

I have a bonez staright pipe with borla cat-backs. Its not loud at all that presilencer does alot. It sounds nice and deep out side and in the car but you can talk over it. Also if you have the stock exhaust manifold like me its not that loud. Try just reving it at idle to like 6 or 7 k and let it drop to like 5k then rev it up again. Just keep doing that untill it starts backfireing then some flames will come out. Mine just poke out for like a second and are like 2 inches long. Do you have the stock cat-backs? O also just wondering when was the last time you changed the tranny and rear end fluid. Also correct me if I am wrong but if his ports werent opening wouldent he fell some form of hesatation because he said it dosent hesatate.

Check my sig, I have that but a stock catback, and it's pretty loud. But i don't get flames either, I think the stock mufflers kill the flames?!

Yea for sure have you ever looked inside the exhaust outlet on stock cat-backs. You see a wall the fumes make like 500 turns before exiting the muffler.
