Man my **** does not work either. I took it to be looked at and they said that I need a new evaporator coil, dryer, and some valve. The dryer and valve are for anytime you open up the a/c system I guess. Sucks, cause it looks like a $400 job

Why buy this stuff new? I see it on ebay all the time. If you can't wait try rx7heaven.com or mazda dismantling out of CA. the drier and expansion valve go for $35 a piece. What's wrong with the coil? Leak? That runs $180 new but should be half that used.

Excellon1....the 86-88manual does not have a a/c section. Go to fc3s.org and look at the 89-90 manual. They have a a/c section on trouble shooting.
I think the first thing to do would be to pull the elec plug off the drier, turn the a/c on to full blast(be sure to press the a/c button too), then jumper the two socket plug you pulled off the drier. If the compressor engages, then most likely your refrigerent is too low to *make* the pressure switch in the drier, therefore no circuit to the compressor to turn it on. If the compressor does come on when the drier plug is jumpered, then don't run the a/c for more than a minute or so. Damage could result to the compressor if you do . The drier can be accessed by removing the overflow tank. That item is held with two 10mm bolts. Easily removed. Gives a lot of room to touch the two socket electrical plug.
