I get dealer cost for everything Memphis. I got the memphis belle, and sold it for $600.

Currently sitting on 2 pair of Memphis 6½" Multi-Sync's for the RX-7.

As per the distro question, if he were running 2 amps, then he should get a distro. As I mentioned, Stinger makes them for 8-gague. And when you're not dealing with wattage, 18 feet of 8-gague can handle 65Amps. More than twice most amps pull.

BTW, the "smart enough to work at BB" comment was serious. I'm looking for places to apply at. Do they make you get your MCEP or whatever? (can never remember those initials)

what's wrong with caps? I'm running a 1 farad. it's like 4-5' from the amp though so it's probably not doing anything.. needs to be like a foot away.

my friend went through about 3 alternators in less then a year till he bought a cap, his last one has lasted a couple years now.

Well, the concept of capacitors is really debaited.

In competition, they're useless. Once you get the .1 seconds of juice they use, then they're actually a drain on the system.

In daily driving, if you need a cap, then there's probably something wrong with your electrical system. It's like using a fuel cut-off switch. If you have one, it's not fixing the problem, but it works. Instead use the $75 and have your alternator re-wound.

If you're up for a change of pace, here in a few months, I'll throw a small system into my RX (once I get it running)

It will be 1 12" in the storage bin behind the driver. Custom fiberglass. Firing at the hatch. I'll try and get a nice D.I.Y. for it, so people don't carry the fear of fiberglass they seem to have now.

Liquid- Yes you do need to get MECP, but you have 1 yr to do it. I am sure that you could EASLY pass!!!

Yeah he said that he has a amp on his interiors already.

Sounds like you have some hook-ups, why dont you get a job at a small shop? They are always WAAAYYYY better to work for.

Yeah I hate caps! I think that they are a waste of money.

Hey have you seen the Lightning Audio 100 farad cap? It looks like it will be pretty damn sweet!

Here's what I did and it sounds absolutely awesome. I have had guys who invested much more into their system give me serious compliments on it. Some of the guys can't believe it even works!

Oh

This is an old pic. I DO have speaker grills over the subs now and the amps will be moved and permanently mounted soon.

The big amp is an Infinity Kappa 202a and the little amp is an Infinity Kappa 102a

The 202a is powering 2 10" Infinity Referrence subs and the 102a is powering my 5.25" fronts and my 6.5" rears (both Infinity Referrence speakers).

Very Nice! Looks almost stock!

I haven't seen the LA 100Farad Cap. I figure if you needed something that big, just get a Bat-Cap 800

Audiofight: I thought I was the only guy with a sub box there! Mine was flush with the front of the strut tower though and had a Velodyne 12" in it.

Here is my input from my 7 years as a stereo installer. First off I did work for serious competition oriented companies. I have been in a few magazines over the years too. I built a Rockford show van for N.A.M. which is the Rockford rep for the south. I have won numerous USAC and IASCA world championships and am affiliated with "The Reaper" which is the black Dodge Intrepid that won the Expert 601+ world title 2 years in a row. I am not MECP certified since it is a complete waste of time and money. Anyone can pass a test on paper but not anyone can be a good installer. If MECP certification was a must then how have I won world's? Best Buy has never won it (I started there way back when).

Power wire is very important. You can't go overkill here. Bigger is better period! On my 2nd gen. I have a 4 gauge wire running from the alternator directly to the battery, a 4 gauge wire to the starter, 3 different ground wires; a 8 gauge to the fender, a 1 gauge to the chassis, and a 4 gauge to the engine. Voltage noticably rose on the meter and the lights are brighter. I have a 1 gauge running to the back which hits a distribution block and turns into a 4 gauge into my McIntosh MC440 which is only 200 watts! Ground wire for the amp is also 4 gauge which goes straight to the chassis. Big caps do work.

My setup consisted (car is apart again) of Image Dynamic CD-1 pro horns custom molded into the top of my dash. The top piece was all one big fiberglass piece I made and integrated the defroster vents into. Looked sweet! Image Dynamics IDQ-6's 6 1/2s in the floor behind the pedals and where the computer used to be firing at you for mid-bass, and a Velodyne 12" servo sub in the back left corner. Signal begins in an old Eclipse 414 CD player (back when they were still good!), goes through a Rockford Symmetry and into my 4 Channel McIntosh. Most incredible 2nd gen I've ever heard. Damn it now I need to post pics of that too!
