Custom Lenses Interest

Hi everyone I just wanted to put a post out to see if any one would be interested in me making custom lenses for our cars before I went through the trouble of becoming a vendor on here. I have a few years of experience working with acrylic plexiglass sheets from working at a display graphics company. If any one is interested I can make any of the lenses on the car including side markers, blinkers, taillights, and whatever else you could want. I can make all sorts of different color lenses (listed below) and can even add reflector strips if needed. I can also do LED blinker and taillight conversions.

Colors-
Yellow
Amber
Red
Grey (Medium or Dark)
Blue (Light or Dark)
Green
Bronze (Light, Medium, or Dark)
Clear
Purple

wouldn't any other color on the lenses(side markers) render the car illegal?

rotarygod - i plan on having some pictures very soon. i have some materials on the way so i can make some samples to show you guys and put on my car

misterstyx69 - yes although some colors you would be able to get away with (red, amber, grey, clear) the others would mainly be for show therefore i would not recommend them on a street car. the other colors i would suggest possibly using in interior lighting such as for the dome lights or trunk.

Some pre smoked s5 lenses would be cool with led lighting. Another cool used would maybe be some flash to pass drl leds

I did see one picture of a guy who threw led strips in em and they looked like crap but if they could be done right with like the bottom half blocked for leds and the top open for function ftp it'd be cool

andycivic - that's the first thing im going to try and do and i'll hopefully have a set or at least one in smoke grey to show by the end of the week if my materials come tomorrow

if you're talking about the led ftps that someone posted in the group buy section then i know what your talking about and i could try and come up with something along those lines maybe even a little better

I wouldn't mind it so long as it is cheap; you know, under the $100 kind or something for the extra ftp lights...

won't happen. i did them for pennies on labor, it's almost not worth it. keep in mind almost every set had some damage in one place or another, studs broken or the lenses scuffed up. about 30% of the time was spent refurbishing just the FTPs themselves. i don't know of anyone personally who does 8 hours of work for $60 in labor which is partly why i discontinued them for the time being.

even at $100 a set i wasn't having people beat down my door to have them done, which would have made it a little bit more doable for a profit. doing multiple sets at the same time saves time of setting up for each stage of the process. ie polishing 3-4 sets of lenses for 2-3 hours versus 1.5 hour for a single set.

Yep, and that just shows how much I value the FTP LED or light idea...

actually i like the way they look and give the car a semi updated look. i suppose you have to see them in person to appreciate it but it does seem to be more for the DIYer due to the amount of labor involved, it's not overly complicated. granted i did go a step further with the insert to keep light out of the rest of the assembly.

Tried to find it on your post but didn't see it, was there any kind of write up ever put out for these?

I just want to convert my front turn signals to super bright LEDs, so I can smoke the lenses a little but still have the same amount of light coming out of them. I also want to convert my dome lights and lights in the door to bright LEDs.

I do know if you make sidemarkers though, I've got a friend with a Civic that is dying for green lenses with a clear LED behind it, or a clear lense with a green LED.
