Cupholder? Yeah Right....

Well, Ive been bitching about not having a cupholder in the rex then I popped open the glove compartent to find what looks like a failed attempt at a cupholder. I felt like I was learning how to rive smoothly, the cupholder requires honing of g force skills. Is that th intended purpose of those things?

Open the Dew, take a few sips and put it inbetween your legs.

Just don't spill or people will think you pissed yourself.

At Rotorfest today I saw an unused Rotor acting as a beer can holder, seemed like a good idea, lol

Someone in another thread had a cupholder below the radio in that useless little gap.

I find that 20oz bottled wedge nicely between the front corner of the passenger seat and the trans tunnell.
Those cup holders in the glove box are hold-overs from the days before a lot of you can remember when there were no cupholders in cars at all (people went into buildings to eatand drink). These coasters were added after the drive-in revolution so provide a place to set your drinks when you were eating in the parking lot...
Drinking while in motion was still several years in thefuture.

Cwaters is correct on the glovebox attempt at cupholders.

He is also correct on the native cupholder already present in the RX7. If you have a 20 oz bottle of anything, it will sit nicely between your right leg and the console. Resting upright aiming towards the dash. It will be pinched by the seatbelt latch and the seat itself.

That is where I put my drink whenever I am going on a fairly long trip.

If that is too confusing, i will actually go out and snap a pic

im in the process of turning the center console compartment lid into a cup holder. I never put anything in it but ink pens and change so i figured i might as well get some use out of it. The only problem i can forsee is no were to rest my elbow, but i guess that one of the downsides of owning a 7

^^^^ How the F*ck are you intending to shift? You are gonna slam that badboy every time you shift into 2nd 4th or Reverse. I would get really annoyed knocking into a cup everyother time I shifted.

i

its gonna be recessed into the console. I was tired of having to keep the lid open to fit a soda in there so im cutting a hole in it and molding a cup holder in there. Hey i didnt say it was for everyone to do but im going to try it. I mean **** its not like console lids are so hard to find.

Heh, nice Idea with the console. I hope it works out for you, but like ilike2eatricers said, they are to hold your girl's *****. Lol. I tried putting drinks there but it became a bitch to have to reach over to grab them while driving. I dont know. I just use my legs or have someone hold the drink for me, but then again Im kinda of a poor bastard so I dont regularly buy drinks...
