Cup holders are an American thing.....
A lot of cars in other countries didn't come with cup holders because they believe when you drive, you should actually be paying attention to the road, and not trying to down your mega gulp while you eat your big mac.
I personally don't drink anything while I am driving, so it doesn't bother me. I spend a lot of time paying attention to the road.
I have seen some cup holders that "stick" to areas of the car. but, I wouldn't trust them to hold a heavy cup.
Good luck. If you do anything, take lots of pictures!

I recently splurged on one of these (in black rubber/plastic):
Think I'll mount the bracket just to the right of the shifter, should gimbal freely and not really bug a passenger unless it's a Big Gulp, or a 40...

i went to the junkyard pulled the cupholders from a nissan 200sx and modified them with a dremel to fit the stock stereo bracket with my cd player. Works perfectly. Also there are a few other single din cupholders that will fit under a cd player and still clear the shifter.

I have a large wad of foam egg-crate stuffed behind my passenger seat from a package someone sent me. I just shove the drink in between that and the, uh, whatever's behind the seat.

i put those cupholders that they sell at autozone that you can hook em up to ure glove box. YOu open the glove box, hang it then, then close the glove box and boom, instant cup holder. I normally have a bottle next to me which i drink from and put on the chair besides me, but when wifey is with mei need the cupholder cuz shes too fancy to hold a bottle lol

Yea, I don't eat or drink while in the car. If I must eat somewhere, I will stop and eat in.
