Cruise control question - s4 vs. s5

Basically, I need to know the differences between s4 and s5 cruise control parts and if they are interchangable.
I read and followed Aaron Cake's writeup for adding cruise control to me car (s4) and got all the parts I need. All the parts were basically on the floor of the donor car (s5), as it is totally stripped out. I went to look at the FSM to make sure where everything went, and it looks like some of the stuff might be different. For example, it looks like the cruise computer is on the passenger side on the s4 and drivers side on the s5. On further research, it looks like there might be some further differences between the two series' cruise control.
Also, I don't need anyone telling me not to put in cruise control. I have a bad back and hip and cruise control allows me to stretch on long drives.

The cruise control unit is on the drivers side on a S4, Aft of the fuse box.

S4 cruise switches and S5 cruise switches are *different* so don't mix S4/S5 switches with the wrong series.

I've used S5 switches with S4 cruise control unit but had to rewire the wires at the switch plug (I think it was a matter of rotating the wires one spot clockwise in the plug) to make it work along with having the *on* buttom jury rigged to the depressed position all the time for it to work.

I never put a S5 cruise control unit in a S4 though. I had one and didn't install it because I think the plugs did not match. Frankly I forget why.

So I'm suggesting that you look on the left and see if the plugs match b/t the harness plug and the units jack. OR look at the series 4 and series five wiring schematics side by side.

I just looked in the S4 wiring and compared it to the S5 wiring. The cruise control unit plugs are different, so the S4 harness plug will not mate to the S5 cruise control units jack.

You'd have to do some rewiring to make it work. I now remember what happen to me. I bought a S5 control unit and the thing did not plug in, so it got put on the shelf and I then bought a S4 control unit to match the cars plugs, used the S5 control switch only after moving the wires around in the harness plug to match the switch functions and then to get it to work had a tie wrap stuck in the On switch to make it stay depressed all the time.

So I suggest dropping the S5 in the S4 car idea. I do suggest buying a S4 turbo cruise control parts. The all electric actuator works a touch smoother than the vacuum assisted non turbo one, although both work just fine in a turbo car. Been there and have used both versions in a turbo car. Well, a n/a to turbo car anyway. Any of this make sense? At 1:40 am it does.
