I found that my security system works as well as any other expensive alarm. My car only has 2 wheels and 3 brake calipers. If you can't even drive your car, how can a thief. Just blow your engine or shoot out your tires.

You guys would like some of the anti-theft/carjacking devices in south africa. Flame throwers and all sorts of nasty stuff.

I think the simple removal of the green fuse is enough. Who's going to troubleshoot startup problems when they're trying to steal a car? I don't bother. My car looks fine, but few people realize how fast it is and it doens't stand out to normal people.

If you are trying to prevent theft of the vehicle, all you need is a key / locking device hooked up to your fuel pump relay... when you get in the car, to start it you turn the key for the fuel pump relay and you turn the key for the ignition.... You can enhance this idea with something like um...I dunno... say a stereo phono "female" plug mounted in your dash (connected to the fuel pump relay) and the male counterpart left on your kechain. When the male part is inserted, the circuit is closed and current flows. Kinda like the idea of keys on treadmills attached to your wrist except no one steals treadmills... hell no one installs stereos in them with 300watt subs and alpine amplifiers....

put a picture of some buff guy taped on the dash with glitter, hearts, and what not...
this will make the stealer think twice before he wants to get his *** beat by hunk man that comes back and sees him breaking into his girlfriends car
it might , might not work

when i upgrade headunit in my vert im gonna keep the old factory stereo..i will mount the new headunit a little offset(backwards into the console) and remove the factory looking face...then make it so i can just put the factory face in front of what i really have...if youve seen the vert factory head..you know how unappelaing it is to theives. i know cuz i was at the pool, in my condo, the other day and i busted a couple kids walking by checking out my ****... he actually stopped..turned around( cuz my car is so pimp looking...lol) walked back and then walked away saying...."nah snoop d-o-double..its just fizzactory shizznit...yo..." he didnt even see that i had 500 bucks of jl audio compnents" just "chilling" in the oem spots waiting for the next step. flashy alrms and leds would have only made him and his teenage gankstas more suspicous..or if i had a big fart can muffler it would have keyed him in that i was a part of his culture of having something shiny and brilliant...with no go and all show...thats what they are looking for.

in 92 i had an 86 rx 7 white and plain..parked in the same spot at work for 2 years.....with over 1000 bucks of quality sound and cds inside...( no tint and easy to see in the hatch) i was dumbass kid and hadnt decided how to install yet...just testing it all for optimum sound...well no alarm either.....the VERY SAME DAY that i put my new rims on her...i parked it in the same spot about 30 yards away from the entrance to my work......they bashed my window and pulled out my ****( easilly cuz i hadnt bolted it it yet) in braod daylight before noon at the mall i was working at......all because i had.."showy" rims...the very damn same day!!!

if you have a car that looks like what the kids are stealing **** from..or if you know it looks like **** that they want...then eventually you are gonna lose your ****...bottom line..most people put that **** in to impress others..by basically getting what you know that everyone else wants..you are trying to impress others..if you decide to take that step_+_ make it easily known that you have it....your gonna be more of a target than the next guy who has it but has it to enjoy for himself...not to enjoy cuz hes showing it off all the time, and trying to find joy from it by impressing others...basically you are only drawing attention to yourself..by drawing attention to your ****..thus you will lose it!!!

err yeah i guess thats true..

well how about using some thick *** plexiglass side windows ...haha...well it would be easy to scratch but not easy to break

there was one time my sisters Accord got her driver side window broken into..and all i did was go to the store by a thick sheet of plexiglass and i just Dremeled it into shape and installed it.. it worked abolutly fine like a real window..and you couldnt tell it from glass cept that it didnt have a tint on it..

or you could install windows that have the thin wire cage layered in the middle [like the ones on school windows]..err hard to explain....it might be expensive, but its bulletproof

I like the idea of the fuse. Fuel pump not too hot on b/c might be accidently triggered

I would find a car audio circuit breaker for the 80 amp fuse and mount that under my dash or sumthing. That way wouldn't need to pop the hood.

I've often fantisized about hooking up 110V to the door handle of my garage and zapping the SOBs. But, there's that liability thing. Goddam theives have rights. BS!
Think I'll do it anyway, I don't think 110 can kill you. Hope not.

You should do what tasers do, convert amps to volts. Take the high amp 110V output of your house and make a box that converts it to like 20 000V but like only a few amps. That would seriously shock the **** out of someone with not a stitch of permanent danger to anyone. The only thing is they could ground it out and **** some **** up or if you did it wrong you could fry everythign in the car, but still a fun idea to play with

Actually they do have these they're called pain tweeters my friend had some in his old road runner. He was like "here sit in the car and see what i did to my alarm. " Damn things almost knocked me out. They hurt like hell and can't hear too well afterwards.

Switches

I havn't read all the posts yet but here is what I have to say for some more serious resolutions. There are all kinds of switches in the car to naturally disable something under certain conditions and there are several you can add in certain places to make it difficult for the theif to go far. The easiest I know of is to splice or reroute another switch into a system. The easiest I know of are the starter solinoid, ignition, and the fuel pump. My truck for instance, actuator wire for the starter solenoid goes directly from the start switch in the ignition into the clutch switch in series and straight to the starter solenoid. Put another switch in series with the clutch switch consealed somewere. You won't even get a click if you try to start it from the ignition switch. Do the same with the fuel pump it will only get fuel unless you turn the switch on. You can use switches from the doors any of the control pannels, instrument controlls, etc. You can go to radioshack and get books on symple elctronic circuits you can use as timers or triggers, everything you can get from rat shack. My favorite is a touch switch, you hook the circuit up to a relay going to your fuel pump or starter solenoid or something and then you run 2 metal terminals somewhere you can bridge with your finger for like 5 seconds. I prefer to use sewing needles, the ones with the tiny flat heads. Run them somewhere unnoticable like somewhere on the back of the steering wheel where you can touch it with your left hand. Then run it to the clutch switch. Push in the clutch switch while touching the 2 contacts then turn the key to start it wait 5 seconds and it should fire right up, but if you arn't touching the contacts it won't start and at the same time if you if you are touching the terminals or not you will have to hold it in start for the time you make the circuit for before it will start. I have 3 rocker switches in my dash where some factory options where suppose to be, one is connected to my fuel pump, the other two are just for looks and decoys. Then I have one under my ignition colum hooked into the clutch switch. All you have to do is get in the habbit of using them. My favorite is the touch switch with the delay circuit though.

Amps

Just for the record of anyone who tries this it only takes a few MICROAMPS to kill you, there have been cases of people getting electricuted by 9v batteries. So make sure the amperage is really freaken low. You can shock someone with over 100, 000v and still not lethaly hurt them. But I don't advise going above over 40kv

I like the idea Arpus has too, if the mechanism isn't even in the car they don't even have the chance of finding the switches, unless the thief is smart enough to jab a small screwdriver into the phono plug and if you use a small headset one that eliminates that. I would say that is the cheapest easiest route, just tear appart an old walkman or diskman.

Voltage is the "power" of the electrons coming out, amps is the amount of electrons coming out. (think of electrons as water, a water pistol doesnt shoot much water out, but it shoots it far is said to have high voltage but low amps, a bath tub that pours alot of water but not at alot of force behind it has low volts but alot of amps) It is true it takes less than one amp to stop your heart, but thats only if it goes through your heart. Ive had SEVERAL amps and hundreds of volts going through my arm and it hurt like ******* hell but the current never went through anything vital. The only way an amp is going to kill someone is if the current goes from say one side of your heart, through it, and to another, which if you run the grounds right cant really happen. After all the electrons most likely will go on the outside of your body using your body as a highway. **** i dont know what im talking about
