The regual Hi-6 is the one you want.

HI-6 is what you want.
HI-6R is just a "racing" version - sealed with special vibration mounts?
HI-6 DI2 is a two-channel version, and is overkill unless you want to the trailings?
Hi-6S is a piece of ****, and it is NOT a CDI box - it's just a voltage regulator that runs higher level volts to the coil.

I have a Hi-6 that I will be installing, can anyone suggest a good place to mount it? Ive seen them mounted on the firewall, on the inner fender, and even on the fan shroud. Are these places acceptable?

Can you use the LX92 coil that comes free with the Hi-6? If I have relocated my battery, couldn't I mount it right that spot?

Thx

Summit Racing used to have a rebate sale for $70 back on the $199 price which made it $130.  I dunno if it's still in effect.

I have my HI-6 mounted on the brake duct on the drivers' side.
Mounting it on the fan shroud is fine.
Keep it away from heat as much as possible.
Mounting it in a cool airflow is highly recommended.

Hey Ted, ever use the Mallory one (Hy-fire VI-A) ?

I have been told that it is a Hi-6 in a different extrusion.

I mounted my 2 Hi-6s under my cooling panel (between the bumper and hood latch.

Yes, the LX92 coil is great w/ the Hi-6, but as it is single post coil you will need 2 of them for the leading plugs. I just went ahead w/ 2 Hi-6 and 2 LX92 for the leading plugs since that set-up was recommended by a couple other forum members that tried it.

Works great, I have my AF ratio pegging the meter @ 8.0AF right now and still pulls clean and smooth to 17psi.

Here you can see the screw heads in the cooling panel for the Hi-6 units and the LX92 coils in the top right of the pic.

Yeah, one of my customers is using it, and it works fine.
I can't comment if it's the same guts as the Crane Cams HI-6 unit though...
