For the first time in 17 years I cracked the factory S5 lip. The facial part wasn't damaged, just about a 12" long slit in the back where it meets the front cover, and a crack around one of the bolt holes.
I removed the lip, used JB weld, let it setup overnight, then put it under a heat lamp, and it's as good as new. If it were more heavily damaged I would've use resin and fiberglass to give it strength in addition the the JB Weld.

Best bet is get a used one with minor or no problems and work from there. Lots of people are selling these because they want to go aftermarket too. I'm all for taking the legit stuff off there hands for cheap and having a stock body in pristine condition.
