Crack on Windshield - How to slow it?
I noticed this weekend that there is a crack on my windshield that is starting to creep down ever so slowly. Is there anythin I can do to slow down its destined creep across my windshield.
Anyone replace a windshield themselves? Or have a shop do it...if so how much should I expect it to cost?
Anyone know of a source for used windshileds for the FC? (I don't have a pic & pull close to me).
Thanks

just buy a new windshield from diamond auto glass. they are in the yellow pages they are fast and cheap. i'm pretty sure i paid $180 installed with the antenna in the windshield and new rubber around the windshiel on my old 89 GTU

the cost depends on who you know im sorry to say haha...it could be anywhere from 150$ to like 300 depending where you go and who you know...but i would not do it yourself...it needs to be done profesionally i think anyway...if you have comprehensive insurance it should cover it for nothing...thats your best bet if you don't have it...get it and then its free hahha

do yourself a big favor and have it professionally done... i used to work for a guy in a salvage yard... lets just say there was a reason that if anyone wanted a windshield, they'd have to pay first and then take it out of the car second.... lol if a company breaks a windshield or you have any problems with it, they have to pay for it... save yourself the time and money....

You drill just infront of the crack. Not all the way through of course. This generally stops it from spreading further but windshields are not expensive to replace. I paid 179 Canadian for mine and tat was with an antena run through it so I could shave off the ugly power stock one

If you are really too short on funds to get a new windsheild, then use some of that Bulls eye repair stuff found at most auto shops for around $10. It will fill the crack with some resin that will harden and prevent the crack from getting worse.
But mind you that is a micky mouse repair, and only good for a short term fix. The proper fix will be to replace the windsheild, as in many states it is against the law to drive with a cracked windsheild.
