Could the double throttle diaphram/delay valve mess up your idle?
First for the background info:
I have been having problems with my idle pretty much since I got it rebuilt. I just found out that its not a vac leak (I used up an entire can of carb cleaner spraying all over the engine bay).
When I was looking under the hood today, I noticed something that didn't look right. The double throttle diaphragm, which appears to open up a butterfly valve right before the main throttle valves, was missing and the valve was wired open. Could this cause a problem with your idle?

Not likely, no matter what position the forward plates are in, the secondary plates should be closed tight at idle...Might have vac leak problems at the tubing there, though (goes to the water thermo valve- check it out also)...
