Cost of N/A FC breaking into the 13s/14s?
What would be the cheapest and most reliable way of bringing an '86 GXL N/A into the high 13s or low 14s in the 1/4 mile? This will be my daily driver so I don't want a wildly ported engine that needs new apex seals every few months. I'm considering a bridge port, however. The car is going to lose the power steering, A/C, most of the interior, and the stereo. I'm going to use an electric fan in lieu of the stock clutch-fan. I would like to spend around $2k on making it fast. Does this seem like a reasonable goal? What fuel mods will need to be done? I have a downpipe (one cat only) and the stock mufflers, although I suspect performance muffler(s) would help somewhat. Ideas and input are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

hey splortch. dont know exactly what to tell you but what i do know is that my friends 86 or 7 runs 14.3 with clutch, ripped int and smog. exahust. secondaries . ports wired. fan. elec box carbon fiber int , afc tuning and underpulleys. he did this with a stock engine. mspeed7 does 13.9 with a few more mods.

Youre thinking of the wrong person. RX7nCRX's n/a is running 13.9. My n/a should be running mid to low 14's when its running good, but its not right now. My intake temps are sky-high from not having a cold air box, and its killing my power. My car would be doing good to get high 14's right now. Also, my clutch slips a lot, which while not hurting hp, is killing my times. My car will be in the 13's, but after I port the motor.
If you want to see my mods list, go look in one of the n/a threads floating around in this forum. Im tired of posting it so many times.
