Cost of A/C installation?
Does anyone know how much it would cost to install A/C in an second Gen that didn't come with it? I'm contemplating buying a 1990 turbo cabrio here in Germany, but most cars over here didn't come with it.

Kind of hard to estimate cost to be honest, but how to manage cost can be discussed not to mention discuss the prospects of getting it done.
Mazda was pretty consistant using the same body harness on all RX7's shipped here to the states. If that is true for EuroSpec, the wiring should all be there so should be plug and play.
Buy a used set up from someone here in the states that is stripping down their RX7 for track. One opportunity I know of, contact FC3s91 (Robert) who I know is in the process of stripping his AC system out of his 91 TII as I know his is in great shape in total. You might need to also get an US Spec heat/ac controller if you don't already have an AC button. Also, be sure and get the evaporator electric fan and the controller for it. Not sure on this one, but I think the controller is mounted in the passenger kick panel.
You might want to consider buying a new compressor and having your local AC shop make up new pressure lines, everything else used should be fine.

Ok, I'll look into it. I assume they had the same set up over here as they did in the states. Most of the RX7s over here didn't come with air conditioning. I we don't have turbo cabrio in the States, so it would be nice to have once I go back.

Get the entire a/c setup from a US car for $50-100, pay to ship it, and install it yourself. You'll need some HNBR a/c o-rings to go between each pipe fitting and you can get these for about $5-10USD. Then you'd simply take it to a shop and have it vacuumed and charged with R12 or similar. The only bad part for you is that the dash has to come out to install the evaporator core.
I usually keep and sell the complete a/c systems from cars I part out for just this reason (mostly people in the US who have cars that a PO ripped the a/c out of, and the new owner would rather have it back).
