Corrosion???

I keep get this build up of corrosion around the mount that hold the battery down and around the negative terminal on my battery...what is causing this and how do I stop it?

Someone over tightened the battery terminal and broke the seal at the post.

To completely stop any additional corrosion, you would need to replace any affected parts and replace the battery so that acid would no longer leak at the post.

Quote from Felix Wankel on another thread -

'Get two pennies and attach them to the battery next to each terminal with some tape on the backside or something. They will trap a lot of the corrosion and keep it off the terminals. The best part is it only costs 2 cents at a time.'
