corksport 3" downpipe

corksport 3" downpipe
I have a 87 TII. Its pretty much stock with the exception of a custom ss cat back exhaust a gutted cat and K&N air filter. My boost sucks (2-3 psi) and I'm pretty sure its the precat. I want to replace the precat with a corksport 3" ss downpipe.
I also intend to do a few other mod's - boost controller, fcd or reprogammed fuel/boost mapping.
Does anyone have any experience with this item (corksport 3" DP)? I heard its a direct bolt up to my cat. Also, how well does it perform (increased boost, noise, boost drift, etc)?
Any info. or other recommended "bolt on" 3" downpipes would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how hip you are you are on using racing parts on the street but check out www.thunderfabrications.com . They have a 3" manderel bent DP,(one peice) that runs strait to the cat back.

NA's equivalent is a header.
A down pipe on a NA (as mentioned above) replaces the pre-cat(s), but is not nearly as loud as a header as the exhaust manifold absorbs a major amount of noise.

Or you could pass on those, and search for "how to do a motor swap" in a few weeks.

OK OK. I know where both DPs and headers connect. I was referring to the first replacable piece in the exhaust system. You know what I meant.

The DP listed on the Cork Sport site is pretty dated I guess. They made a new one I saw the other day. They fitted the prototype on a car that I'm buying from one of the owners there. The new DP is 3" ID, not OD. It's a very large pipe. Polished, stainless, mandrel like the cat-back. Going to be right around $200 from what I hear. Also they will be making a new mid-pipe too I guess.
It has not yet been run on a car, just fitted. That car is getting the turbo swaped now and painted before I buy it. But I can tell you guys about the pipe once I get the car in my hands. Sound and what not. I will not really have a before and after on it so I won't really know what the power difference will feel like.
You also lose about 10-12lbs going to a DP.

I found this company in another thread that makes a 3" mandrel bent pipe that goes from turbo to catback for $175. I've emailed them with a bunch of questions about it. I'll let you know what I find out about it.
