Question Cooling system suggestion

I have a 89 NA, everything is stock, the only thing I have changed is the thermostat housing. But I've been thinking of getting a new radiator aluminum most likely. and maybe a changing my stock fan to an electric fan, and changing some of the hoses. Any suggestions on what brand is makes good products that I can use. I use my car as a DD and a track car. Thanks

I don't know from experience, but a lot of people on here run Koyo Rads.

I have a Taurus fan/shroud on my 88. It cools beautifully, but the shroud needed some modification to fit. I'm still not 100% satisfied with it.

From AaronCake's site:

I personally use the fan from a V6 Pontiac 6000 on my 2nd gen. This fan is common to most medium to larger sized GMs of the era. You can find them on the Oldsmobile Delta/Royale, Pontiac Grand Prix/Grand Am and several Buicks. The fan has a shroud that almost perfectly fits on the 2nd gen radiator.

That's what I'd do if I could do it again.

All right thanks man! Yeah I just read that on Aaron Cake's site no more than 20 minutes before reading your post! Thanks again though!

Godspeed makes a nice alloy rad that's quite inexpensive.
The Taurus two-speed fan- properly wired- works well.

You've "changed the thermostat housing"?
To what?

probably an aluminum one. Mazdatrix sells them.

I like AWR radiators myself, but they're pricey. for an NA one of the cheaper ones like koyo or fluidyne would probably be fine.

Sorry I wasn't specific enough. My thermostat housing cracked during the summer. So I bough a new one from Mazda. Just the stock plastic one.

an electric fan, even a strong one, is weaker than the stock fan.

The stock 86-88 thermostat housing is aluminum. Dunno if it fits on an 89 though.
