Cooling question

I have an E-fan

During idle the car runs very cool (less than 1/4). The problem is when i get up to highway speeds. (the water pump isn't slipping b/c dual belt).

As of now the fan runs constantly (haven't finished total install). I know this can be actually counter productive at high speeds. But i can't even go 75 with out my "cooling Fan" light coming on (over 1/4 way up). What would cause this "high speed heat".

Also i've located the AC relay. There are three wires i don't know where they go. One is Blue with a stripe, Solid blue, and black with white stripe. I'm looking for the power lead for the AC fan.

If i could just get my car cool it would be set

any help would be appreciated.

The car is a 87 TTII

After another 30min of searching it looks like i need to put back my plastic guards. (removed the bottoms and front ones when working on car)

Any other suggestions to keep it cool would also be appreciated.

Put the shrouds back on. The bottom one at least, the top one if you still have problems. The fan will suck air from under the car rather than through the radiator because of less resistance.

Also get some RedLine Water Wetter, should keep it even cooler.

Update.........

I reinstalled the shrounds that helps and it runs just a bit hotter than normal but nothing major.

When the temp guage gets to about 1/4-1/3 (highway speed) the cooling fan light comes on. I no longer have the fan so how do i dissable the light since it's no longer needed?

Don't know how to disable the light. Sorry.

Just wanted to mention that on the highway my temps drop right down. At idle my temp hits 190F (just under half on the stock gauge) before the e-fan kicks in. On the highway my temps drop as low as 165F @ 80mph (just under 1/4 on the stock gauge.) Mind you, this is in Spring air - around 10 celsius. We'll see how it behaves in 30 celsius.

This is with the shrouds in place, 2 bottles of Water Wetter in the coolant mix and an Autolite temp switch on the e-fan.

Well When I had those symptoms it was a bad thermostat. Temps would skyroket off of a Autometer gauage when I went on the highway.

I had a emperial 16" E-Fan on until tonight. The piece of **** wouldn't cool.Had it on almost all winter but it's starting to get hot and it can't keep up.

I was constantly at half to 3/4 on stock guage with it.
I am in Arizona though and it 90 today.

So i put the stock fan and shroud back on and so far it's running at 1/4 like it should.

SO in conclusion.... don't buy Checker's **** brand fans.
Don't skimp out on price or you'll be stuck with a E-fan and temperature actuator sitting in your garage.
