Cooling problems and a Tune up
i sat down today on one of these auto parts websites and begian making a
list of everything to do a FULL tune up *IE all belts hose's and filters
along with fluids* and i did meen Full as in i wanted to replace even thouse
little hose's all over and the vac line... anyway i dident even price the
vac like or the little hose's and the total came out to $175 i whould hate
to think about how much the Silacone vac line whould run that i want to use
as well as all of the little formed hose's
now i probably can get away with just doing a *basic* tune up but i'm having
a heat problem... she seems to have a normal operating temp of just about
1/2 on the scale probably like 5/8 or 3/4 and SOMEtimes she will heat up
pretty bad almost to the top line but she never touchs it... i was going to
do a full coolent flush on her and replace the therm with a 180 or 160.. do
you think that doing that might help?

your car should not be going over 1/4 on the gauge. you might have already done damage to it by going that high!. I wouldn't drive it again till you do some work. get a mazda thermostat (not other brands) which is 180 or 185 and flush the coolant for starters. a new rad cap might help too.
as for the tune up. here's what you need and guessed prices
spark plugs stock ngk $30
spark plug wires stock ngk $30
fuel filter $25
oil and filter $20
thermostat and coolant $30
diff and tranny fluid, clutch and brake fluid flush. ??
I would change the rad hoses and driver side heater hose.
and also get your TPS and timming checked.

i hear all ends of the Temp gage scane as far as what i SHOULD be runing at alot of people say half is the normal operating temp... no matter what though this deffently needs to be taken care of ASAP the engine is saposed to be pushing the end of its life span i was told when i bought her so this kind of stuff doesnt come as a surpize... Ohh BTW she also has a pretty big oil leak... where are the commen leak spots for oil? also i figure that this might be part of the cause...
