cooling fan warning light????
i started my car the other night and that light poped on right after i started it. so i went to pop the hood and my brother said that it turned off but i decided i would chech it neways (that would be a bad thing to have fail) so i look under the hood and it is spining like it always does. could this mean that the clutch is going and it slipped and took a min to speed up? is this an excuse to get an electric fan? or do you think this could just be a fluke
thanx in advance
pinfield
P.s. i dont know if it makes a difference or not but that drive i took before this i drove the car very hard but gave it time to cool down (its and 8t TII)

the fan that is switched on when you either turn on the AC or the cars water temp hits like 220 or something like that. BTW. i had an issue with it as well. I just swapped t stats and will see if it dissapears.

same with me, I did it last week (pulled the AC off). And the fan trys to kick on when the temp gets hot and there is no fan so it gives the light. thats where my money is. Is the xcar running 1/2 on the temp gaugge? is you a/c turned on from inside on accident maybe? Something wants to tun on that fan thats not therwe and you car interrprets it as the light you (we) see. I just swapped the t stat and the light is gone now. granted I olny let it idle for like 30 min but it would usually be on far before that even at idle.

pinfield,
go get you fan out and plug it back in to the wiring harness and see if it turn the light out or anything or get out a test light and see if it gets juice. I had an issue like the dude above is talking about where the light would stay on in the ignition setting.

That electric fan switches on at 207degF to help the main fan if needed. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) the warning light also comes on if the temp gets high enough to activate the fan, which could alert you to high temps before it overheats. So even if your A/C's gone, it's still useful. Just reinstall the fan, and the light will go out, plus you'll have the added insurance. That's always a good thing when it comes to cooling.
