Exclamation Coolant Seal and New Turbo Issues Help w/Video

I was hoping to be coming to an end of a long slow error filled build but it seems grim. I'll cut to the chase...

OK , heres a little background

Ive got a S5 13BT rebuilt professionally, New Turbonetics T4 turbo but used the housing off my old lightly used t4 with same specs because of the custom piping on it. Vehicle was tuned buy ForceFed preformance in BC.

The Issue... 1 of 2

Possible coolant seal failure, due to my negligence probably. After the rebuild and tune ive drivin it only a handful of time for no longer than 5-10 mins at a time. One time i raced my friend down a road by my shop when the temp was not quite warm (of course i had no temp gauge at the time) and i blew the turbo but also possibly the coolant seal without knowing. Ive since replaced the turbo white sweetish smoke coming from the middle (between cold and hot side) of the turbo and also out the exhaust. As the temp increases the smoke increases. Ive tied to do a "champagn" test but i cant bring the car up to operating temp (Only 120 degrees), I didnt really notice and bubbles, contrary to what i say in the video . This brings me to the next issue, why i havnt driven it since installing the new turbo. My question before is could it not be the coolant seal?

2 of 2

When my coolant temperature hits about 120 degrees farinhieght the turbo, or what i believe to be the turbo stars squealing similiarily to a belt squeal, which can be seen in the videos. In the video is the longest ive let it squeal for. What can this noise mean from a new turbo with a lightly used same spec housing. Could it not be torqued properly or somthing?

1 - Cold Start, very little smoking, exhaust smells like exhaust
Cold Start - YouTube

2- Champaign test, early stages no bubbles. I was lying when i said there was in the vid.

3- Idle at 105 degrees, smoke thickens and more pungent sweeter smell.
The smoke thickens - YouTube

4- Turbo is screaming at 120 degrees coolant temp. WHY?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, hopefully this rig will be ready for the road this summer. Thanks for reading.

Sounds like the comp wheel is dragging against the housing. Either the nut backed out or there's a lot of play. Try see how much play there is on the comp wheel. You will hear it dragging when you spin it.
Depending how bad the seal is, you probably wont see it but as temp rises, it will get pushed into the overflow bottle and smell coolant burning. All depends on the severity .
I'd keep an eye on the overflow bottle as it will fill up if there is a break.

Thanks for taking a swing at my problems, im going to get my turbo professionally inspected because it was supposedly new. I really want to be able to get my car to operating temp without the turbo yelling at me. Anyone know how i could do this?

Spin the comp wheel with your fingers. If it is binding, it will make a scraping sound.
No need to have it inspected without being sure it is.
It's either your belt, comp wheel or...your front needle bearings ( just hopeit is not that).
See if you see and black powder around your pulleys which would indicate belt slipping or pulley not aligned.

Weird though, if it is any of the above, it will make noise cold or hot.
