coolant over-flow

Hey
I have an 86 FC
well i had a problem with my coolant buzzed going off, so i thought i had air bubbles in the rad, so i drained the rad and flushed it well. once i did that the buzzer didnt come on for a day then i drove it for 20-25 min not hard and it came on. anyways, my overflow tank always seems to fill rite up to the top, and my coolant buzzer comes on as well now and then.
why is my overflow tank filling rite up after i drive it...it just recently doing this?

thanks alo
Nick

You have a small leak somewhere in the cooling system. When the engine gets warmed up, the coolant expands and flows into the overflow tank. As the engine cools, the coolant contracts, and the excess coolant is supposed to be drawn back into the radiator via vacuum. In your case, there is a small leak that is letting air into the system instead of drawing the coolant from the overflow tank. The leak could be anywhere in the system, and the best way to hunt it down is to have the system pressurized(any mechanic should be able to handle this) and watch for the coolant to start leaking out.

Good luck.

Try any auto parts store, see if they have the pump. I believe AutoZone lends out some of their tools, they might have one. Just go to the counter and let them know what you need to do and hopefully, they'll be able to help you.
