Coolant flush?

I attempted this earlier this year, but it was getting dark and i couldnt find the goddamn drain plug for the "block" so I just poured in new antifreeze... i ended up flushing only the rad.

Upon a closer inspection i found that my coolant system seems to be a tad contaminated. Not sure with what. sort of a gell-y substance, and it's in very small amounts, and seems to be settlign at the bottom of the cooling components.

I want to perform a FULL flush this time What's the best stuff to use to flush the coolant system? I installed my water temp gauge yesterday, and the temp doesn't rise above 180 even after a very spirited drive But i'd be much more satisfied in knowing I have a sparkling clean coolant system

Just buy one of those "Prestone" flush systems. It comew with a T that you put into the lower rad hose, and then you can attach a hose directly to that. Then you leave your rad cap off and the it exits there after going through the system. I do this about once a year.

Huh, is that "substance" in your coolant like oil in water? Hope not in large amounts.

Also, make sure you dont run cold water through a hot engine. It may crack your seal on your water pump and you could find water weeping out of it.

No, it's not oil. If it was oil, it would be floating on top. As I said, it settles at the bottom. Looks to be residue from old coolant.
