Cool air intake

an N/a don't need TII injectors unless it is heavily ported.
well, the stock pipe has those ridges in it... so i would imagine a metal tube would be smoother and reduce turbulence.... but yeah 300 bucks is rediculous...

well, the plastic will heat up as well... asside from wrapping either pipe you arent going to see any real temp decrease....
i asked before, and i dont think anyone answered... wouldnt the afm see more air coming in and the computer would then increase the amount of fuel to match the air... isnt that the whole point?

I was thinking about rigging up a cold air box at the right rear of the engine bay with a scoop, as proposed in earlier threads.
I spoke to Chris at CP (guru) about this, and he said he's seen it done a couple of times, with disasterous results in the way of blown engines. Other than dirt or bits of the intake getting into the motor, I can't figure this out.
Is there anything wrong with this set up?
Mike.

With the use of an Air Filter being functionable by means of drawing In more air (obviously), the Air Filter screens out foeign debris. Especially foreign objects that could get In the Motor and do damage. Perhaps abit more clarification?
Also, I used the Cold Air Box for 3yrs with no disasterious results prior to my upcoming setup.

I was thinking of a box, with a filter, right in front of the windshield on the passenger side, with a little scoop back there. I figured on a nice, straight cold shot to the intake manifold. Also an apparent high pressure zone back there.
I don't know why this should result in a blown engine, unless it wasnt sealed up too well (so some dirt got sucked in, detouring around the filter), or some piece of the fabricated intake (silicone seal or a piece of plastic) got sucked in.
Any ideas?

NA: 460cc/min
Turbo: 550cc/min
Adding Turbo secondaries to an NA without any way to tune them would increase fuel flow by about 10% at full load, which would result in a very rich mixture and a loss of power.
