Convertible top pockets/drains?

Those pockets where the top folds behind each door, is there a drain in there for the water that collects? I got caught in a monsoon rainstorm with my '88 convertible the other day, water seemed to stay in there forever, I stuck a towel in there to dry. Top seems to be original. Thanks.

Yes, there is a drain tube on each side at the bottom of the pocket. It sounds like your tubes are plugged.

You need to clear them, or the car will start filling with water.

How do I get to the tubes, from the top of the pocket? Thanks again.

You can see the whole thing by removing the cover panel behind the seats. The clear plastic tubes each go from the pockets to their own grommeted holes in the floor. Maybe stick a wire in each end to clear them out. Avoid taking off the plastic interior side panels, they are a pain to take of and reinstall.
