convertible top cleaner?
Sup guys and gals,
New to the forums, was into VW's for 8 years but very reluctantly sold mine so I could finish off some bills to go back to school. Just picked up an 88 RX7 convertible, thing is in beautiful condition, runs like new (only 60k orig miles) and best part is got it for free
Just threw on a K&N intake and a Racing Beat exhaust and looking to do more as I go along and i'm sure I will have many questions since i'm new to Rotary's and asain cars in general. Kinda sucks being a noob again.
First question is a simple one. The convertible top is a pain in the *** to clean with soap and water, just wondering what you guys recommend to clean it up and maybe get rid of some of the fading?
Thanks!

Why is it hard to clean with soap and water? Unless you're using bar soap, it should be just as easy as cleaning the rest of the car, hah.
I've used just about every kind of vinyl/leather treatment that you can buy, and they all get you a temporary shine, but it will fade back quickly. The best solution to a faded top: buy a new one. But if you're short on cash, the vinyl interior protectants like armorall and others will be a good short-term fix. Be warned though, it will take at least an hour to get the top the same color of black all around. You'll get a lot of swirl marks and varying color if certain areas get more attention than others.

I use BlueMagic convertible top cleaner on my Alfa Romeo vert. Its easy to use and works very well. You basically apply it with a cloth (its a squeeze spray bottle) and rub it in very vigorously. Then wet a towel and wipe it down. Works great, returns the color, protects very well from what I can tell so far. Been using this stuff for about a year. Takes the dirt and bird crap or whatever off. Hope this is helpful. Not very expensive to boot!

Soap and water very clean, then re-coat with Duplicolor vinyl and fabric coating.
