Convertable top RESTORATION
Well I was replacing my torn, non-existant top witha USED top that was in MUCH better shape. I had a "NEW" Duplicolor product laying around and figured it might be worth a shot to try and revitalize the old top and see if it would hold/ look good. So here are the results, the Targa section was treated with Duplicolor's Vinyl/Leather dye spray. It worked VERY well, it is water resistant and UV resistant. One can is more then enough to do one top and then some. I am going to re-apply an extra coat when I do the back section. Again here is a before and after comparison, the targa is the after the rear is the before...
I sprayed it with water, rubber it with a damp cloth, all 15 minutes after I sprayed it on. THis stuff isn't comming off! It also can dye plastic interior peices and carpet.. Pretty great stuff, the pictures speak for themselves.

i think i just used what you did on my carpet, its for fabric vinyl and carpet touch ups and i believe its dupli color as well... im happy with the product so far, my carpet looks great and still keeps its soft feel to it and is plush to the touch even with this on it. it is however just a bit more coarse than before but hell it looks new and you dont need car carpet to "feel" perfect just look good
heres a pic of what i did so far on it...

I didnt see anything for a red dash, but i called a friend of mine and they had a tan color at the autozone where he worked that they didn't have at walmart. I guess you just have to look around. The can say hot stylish colors?

yeah, that's the stuff I used on my interior. This picture was taken shortly after I got the inside *almost* reassembled after installing the megasquirt. Everything that is black in the picture was that S4 grey. most of it was rather faded as well. It still looks great a year and a half later.. good stuff!
Those tops look pretty

Ah, so color changes (specifically s4 gray to black) work, yes?
Man, I am so gonna get some and finish my 'vert (top is okay, but carpet is black, and all vinyl is still gray)
I thought about this before, but lamented because I thought it wouldn't last long.
Thanks, Wonko & RRTEC

wow, i guess i've had it on two years.. I just dug up my old thread ( here: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=vinyl+dye ), if you want to take a look at it. Either way, as it's covered in the thread, it's all about the prep work, just like painting...
Good luck with it

What prep work did you do before spraying?
