Controlling E-fan with Jaycar SVS

Controlling E-fan with Jaycar SVS
Quick questions.
On the weekend I finished my electric fan install, using the simple voltage switch from jaycar and a relay to control the fan.
Ive got the input for the SVS tapped into the thermosensor coming out above the thermostat, and ive got a ignition switched 12v line controlling the SVS, which triggers a relay to turn the fan on/off.
The problem i'm having, is the fan stays on constantly!
So either:
a) im not using the correct line to get my trigger reading for the SVS
or
b) ive got the kit built wrong
One last thing to mention - in the manual for the kit, it shows a jumper setting which my kit did not come with, so i made the three jumper pins myself and put a hdd jumper across. When two of the pins are bridged, the fan comes on, when the other two are bridged, nothing happens.
Adjusting the trigger point does nothing.
could it be by having these jumpered its causing the issue?
Ive got photos for all my work, once i get it working properly i plan to put a guide up for anyone else who wants to use the SVS to run an e-fan, it works out a lot cheaper than using a thermalswitch from summit and the kit is easy to build too

You're supposed to connect into the wire for the ECU's thermosensor, which is on the back of the water pump. Personally I'd make this connection at the ECU end of the wire and tuck the unit under the dash nearby. It's pin 2I is the link below, and is a green/white wire.
