Constant Buzzing noise
First off, let me say that I searched, found a thread realted to this, but wasn't exactly my situation.
I was sitting in my car and when I went to hit the clutch I felt a lil piece of plastic against my foot. I look down, and lo and behold its a loose wiring harness. I grabbed my Hayne's repair manual to figure out what this goes to and found out its for the power steering computer. I plug it in and my power steering magically works, but now there's this constant buzzing noise, which is really annoying since I don't have a stereo. If this helps, I've noticed the little odometer(I dunno what its called, the one at the bottom of the speedometer) hasn't been giving accurate readings. I went around my neighbor hood once and it said I went 20 miles.
Please help, my poor little ears can't take it anymore! (After one day )

do you mean beeping rather than a constant buzzer???
If so then you didn't search correctly, unless you searched for beeping (which the power steering computer does to indicate an error).
as far as the speedo not reading correctly, it is a mechanical system, and reading too much/fast would indicate a bad speedo or a incorrect speedo gear at the tranny.

nope its buzzing, and it doesn't stop even while the car's running. It kinda sounds like the noise of a key being left in the ignition, but it should stop when you start the car right? I mean its not too bad or anything, just kinda annoying.

where is is coming from (you will need to stick you head under the dash).
The CPU is in the drivers kick panel which has one buzzer, the other buzzer is in the gauges, and then you have the beeper in the power steering computer.
Can you tell which one it is?? I am assuming you don't have any of thw arning/idiot lights on anywhere?

Its coming from teh dash I think. My idiot lights work a lil, my hatch light keeps coming on from time to time and all tthe other ones, like brake and door work just fine, but my clock doesn't work. And yes, its very high pitched.

If it is indeed the gauge cluster, then you have low oil, or are over 7000 RPM, or have bubbles or leaks in your coolant system.

Same problem as me.
I think it is coming from behind the cluster. It is not the coolant... I have checked my coolant, my oil is fine and the power steering is gone.
Same issue. Something to do with the power steering. If I disconnected the power steering computer, do you think it would go away?

Very good, thanks to you, sir.
I will check that out tomorrow and end the insanity.
To explain the beep. It does actually sound like the low coolant warning beep. Exactly like it, as I remember it.

Thanks again for the info, Icemark...
All I had to do was unplug the wires going to the PS computer, kept it out for about 3 minutes, plugged it back in and it's working fine. No more buzzing, thanks be to god.
Shmapdi, try the same thing, should work fine.

hey, thnx! I thought I figured out why it was buzzing all the time, but I'll try this to see if it'll stop. The wire that tests the lvl of coolant looks stripped and not good, and thats what I think it is. I'll try this and see if it stops. Thnx again!
