NY compression test results

hey everyone. ive been having some issues with my 86 NA. Lots of smoke on the start up, flooding issues, etc etc. A supposed fresh rebuild, street ported, and so the engine should have some legs on it. and note, about the smoke on the start up, my Oil Metering Pump Linkage is bent so the gates are fully open, and my gas emmissions has been eliminated. But on with the thread subject. I only had time to test the front rotor. Here are the links for the videos i made. I found the walkthrough on rotaryressurection.com but was a little unsure exactly how to do it. The first video i held down the cap on the side of the tester. the second video i didnt hold it at all. What confused me was the second video it jumped more then 3 times, but settled at about 115 or so (fresh built) the first one didnt stop jumping, the walkthrough said it would jump 3 times. again i held down the cap on the first video, and let it go on the second. http://s515.photobucket.com/albums/t...t=Video004.flv

If there is a shrader valve in the spark plug end of the compression tester remove it. This will allow you to see 3 distinct spikes. On my gauge when I vent it near the gauge it does work as well as removing the valve. It seems like the compression is a bit low. It takes a while to build up to 120 psi. Your concerned with each individual spike in pressure. Hope this helps.

shrader valve

From what I remember when I did mine like that the numbers were low also. Take out the schrader valve. I bet the numbers will be better. Because when your pressing the vent your not seeing all of the pressure. It looks to be even spikes though.

oh yeah

oh yeah, i dont know if its worth mentioning, i literrally had what appears to be fuel pumping out of the gauge. appeared to be flooded. i took the first 2 fuses out closest to the bay, the ressurection tutorial said eci fuse, im assuming thats what i was supposed to take out. thanks again. ill post back when i get more results.

If your engine is flooded your going to have lousy compression results. Deflood it and put a bit of oil in the plugs. Crank it over a few times to get it spread around the housings and then test your compression.
