compression test with motor not in the car?

yes I have searched, didnt come up with the anwsers i wanted. I pulled a motor out of a turbo2 a month ago that didnt have a tranny, can I test the compression without it in the car?

without a trans and a starter i don't know how you would get the engine cranking fast enough to get an accurate result.

yea same lol, looking inside the exhuast ports the housings look good and all the apex seals, the turbo didnt show any signs of anything going threw it

If the engine is bolted to a stand, could you not turn the flywheel with a big socket or something?

i was thinking of using an electric impact gun to spin it up fast

In order to get a proper reading the engine needs to spin at a minimum of 250 RPM.

You'll need a TII starter + TII bell housing / TII transmission + battery and cables

OR

NA starter + NA transmission + battery and cables

If one of you guys doesn't mind clarifying, why do you need to spin it at some minimum RPM? What makes the compression different at lower speeds?
