Talking compare

someone just told me that if i dont get a turboII i should jus get a GEN 1 rx7 because the perform close tot he same as the GEN 2 rx7 and are a lot cheaper....

i always thought that the performance on the Gen1's was much worse than the gen 2's? at least from the lil i looked into them. can somebody set up a lil comparison for me? thank you

They are lighter, and cheaper that's abou it. The FC handles better, just like the FD handles better than the FC.

I would prefer an FB over an FC if I was going NA. The experience of driving is what the FBs are about, and are just as powerful as the FCs if you have an SE. Its all about preference. Either way you cant go wrong!

It really does depend on what you want. Judging by your Signature, you're more of the course racing/auto crossing/drifting type. A lot of people think straight line is very important. A lot of people who are giving you advice might not have the same goals as you. The 1st gen is lighter, the GSL-SE has decent power (power to weight ratio makes it the fastest) but from what I've heard, it is a handful. Live rear axle. The 2nd Gen is heavier, but probably a little easier to handle.

Maybe if you told us exactly what you were wanting in a car, we could help you out a little better.

Ive owned a GSL, a GSL-SE, a GXL, and my current TII. In my opinion...the GSL-SE was by far the most tossable, fun to drive car. My TII is a blast due to its all out brute force, but its a handful. The SE was just a fun, easy to drive, no worries little sports car.

If I had to choose again between the SE and the GXL, Id take the GSL-SE any day of the week. In my opinion (and mine only) the FC minus the turbo is no fun when compared to the GSL-SE.

Why are you driving a T2 and not a GSL-SE?

The GSL-SE has nothin on a S5 NA, except for its weight........

Like I said before, its all about preference. Ive been bitten by the Turbo bug. My TII is a superior car to both NA FCs and FBs (again thats MY opinion) If I had to go NA again, it would be another SE.

My 84 SE was always neck and neck with my neighbors S5 NA (90 GXL)...and was more fun to drive. simple as that.

The best part of my GSL-SE was the fact that I didn't have to deal with all the electrical bullshit FC's have.

Just gutted precats let it run a 10.15 in the 1/8th mile with 155k on everything. (My GXL was a tad faster). I've seen lots of FCs that can't match that no matter what their mods are. Maybe I can drive or something <shrug>

yea

I love the looks of a SE in great condition. If their AC's are good, I might buy one instead of an FC. Or maybe not at all, I keep getting the sense that rx7s are very unreliable with little things in the car. =[

My first car was a 85 FB. Infact I have never owned a piston car. How many can say that 4 Cars and 7 motorcycles. All Rx-7's or 2 wheelers.

I liked that FB, but I like my second Gen's more.. the manual choke was a pain in the ***, and the inside was just not very stylish. And I think the boddies of the 1st gens look kinda ugly by todays standards.

hmm well basically i just wanted to see a comparison...i still want an FC...thats like ma dream car of the momment (cuz FD is out of my pirce range haha)....i jus love the looks of an FC...n i still like it performance "on paper" compared to the first gen....for now im jus looking for a honda beater haha...n a daily driven car...im just about to enter college...pre-med so i dont got money to spend on fixing up a car all out...i jus want somehting that i can make look nice...n be proud of...Rx-7 do seem unreliable...they are only for the true fans....which i assume everyone here is....some people have told me that if i get an FD i should rebuild the engine every 80 k miles....so like i say its only for the true fans of the car....not for the wannbe ************* who buy it to look cool....God do u look cool in a Rx-7 haha....its jus sad to see all the mest up drity untaken care of 1st n 2nd gens on the road....anyways....thanx for all the opinions....i never ealy looked into the GSL-SE before but ever since i joined this club ive been hearing a lot about it....so maybe i will start to look into it....peace out
