Cold Starting

hey guys.. did a search but didnt find anything that answered my questions..

so, im told there is cold start components to the n/a 13b..

what are they? whats each function of the components? and what are some general failures/problems the cold start components have?

There is a passage in the throttle body the lets coolant pass through it.

There are some parts that inject water into the intake for extrememly cold starts (winter time). From everything I have read it doesn't do any good and dealers were even removing them from cars. My car is a california model but I live in MI and never had any problems getting it started.
