clutch replacement?
ive been working on my rx7 getting it road worthy, just doing routine stuff with one last thing to make it road worthy, the clutch. i wanted to know if the thats something i can do myself or if i need to take it to a shop, because ill have no help.
ive been working on cars for years but have never done a clutch or worked on a car alone. ive heard i can put the car on stands and jack the trans up lossen it and just push it back, im not a weak person so im not worried about that i just want to know if it can be done and how to do it if thats wrong. btw its a 87 gxl.
thanks for any and all help

The clutch isn't the hardest thing on the car to do, although you'd probly want an extra pair of hands there to hand ya tools, mop up blood etc. If your thinking about touching the flywheel though (and I'd suggest you do) then your not gonna be doing it at home unless you've some some serious air power.

the clutch isnt tore up its just a little soft, so the fly should be good for a little while. ill be rebuilding soon enough. im just putting in a stock grade clutch from autozone and im going to replace it with a better one when im ready for the rebuild.

mark the driveshaft on the diff with chalk (for position) and remove.
Remove Shifter and hydralics.
Disconnect negative on battery and remove starter.
Remove Tranny.
Replace clutch.
Reverse order for installation.
You'll need a hand putting it back on, just a guide. Its a BITCH to try and line it up yourself. Best to do it when the car is level. If its not, slide the driveshaft back into the tail shaft. It WILL leak oil if the tranny is not level and the driveshaft is not present. Its not very tastey either.
