clutch fluid is black
I'm out of school and I'm finally getting around to changing out the last of my fluids/filters/etc. since I bought my RX-7 a year and a half ago. I just have brake fluid left. So I'm wondering about the minor fluids. Most of all, my clutch fluid is black. Is this bad? Should I change it? Are there any special procedures, or do I just wear gloves, open some drain plug, empty into a bucket, and refill? I'm also wondering whether I should even bother with my power steering fluid. I bought some a while back without thinking. So if it's easy to change I might as well do it.
After I finish this and get some more cash, it's time for upgrades

the clutch fluid being black can easially indicate one of two things or both. one, that the fluid is old. two, its filled with deposits from the clutch hose and salve cylinder. to change the fluid, just open the bleeder screw on your slave cylinder, hook a vaccume line up to the bleeder screw, run the line into a suitable drain pan or coffee can and pump the pedal until all of the fluid is out. wipe out the clutch master cylinder resivour(until all of the black stuff is gone). you can choose to remove the slave cylider and rebuild it or just disassemble it and clean it. or, just replace it. remove the hose and replace it or clean it by running dot 3 through it. i'd replace the hose and rebuild the salve cylinder if it were me. when you're finished, replace it with dot 3 and bleed the system and you're off.
