clunking sound from rear end area...

Whenever I shift hard in the t2 I hear a thud/clunk noise from what I think is near the rearend....whats going on here

i have the same problem. I got almost no answers on my thread. I know theres a bushing at the front of the rear end that stops it from moving up and down. Thats what it is most likely but I dont know what it looks like and Cant see it because of its placement

It could be one of two things:

1. Front differential mount.
2. Bad U joints (get ready to replace entire driveline.

the front mount on the rear diff. $63 for a better one at www.mazdamotorsports.com (not listed just call and ask.)

and a good few hours of hard work to change it.

Most likely its the front differential mount. Get it from mazdamotorsports like Scott said or get it from the dealer about $125 from them.

Do a search for Differential Mount and you will get lots of info on it.
