<-> This close to getting my Seven!

Ok guy's there is this nice White 1987 RX-7 sitting in a parking lot with no plates that I pass every day and it just happens to be across the street from my work and like 2 houses down. It hasent moved in a few month reason being then guy dosent have his drivers licence anymore. It is in pretty good condition not a spec of rust anywhere and a little patch of bondo on the back fender probably because of a dent. My friend (Terrh) has bugged me about it but I never thought it was a good idea untill now here is the rundown on it

- Radio has been ripped out (Thats ok since I have a new system and 2 12" 500 Watt Subs)
- There WAS a issue with the fuel pump but that was fixed
- The exhaust system is not underneeth the car but instead in the trunk
- Interior is alright (a tonne of junk everywhere)
- Some interior pieces have been professionaly painted like some parts of the door pannels ect and aftermarket shifter
- ohh yah and engine compression is good according to his mom

Thats the problem, I have been ONLY able to get ahold of his mom. it sucks when the people live in a apartment building that has NO phone number listed for anyone in the apartment including the manager, And the people themselves dont have a phone! I had to randomly buzz apartments and also wait in the parking lot for people to come home or somethign so I can ask who owns that car! A mont later I got lucky and someone knew!! The guy is like 26 and lives with his mom so I go there and I always JUST miss him. but his mom for some reason knows everything he has done with the car and anyways I told her that he offerd Terrh 800 bucks for it last spring and since it has sat all summer I can offer 700-800.

If I get this car I already have a Nice new black paintjob scheduled for it, I am thinking White rims with low pro's and I am going to gut the descustingly dirty interior and personaly give each piece a nice new coat of paint before it goes back into the car.. I WANT this to be a show car for next summer. I am hoping to have the necest rex around!

Umm does this car by any chance have white running strips as well as a white paint job? And is it a turbo? If so I would highly recommend grabbing that car and restoring it......DO NOT PAINT IT BLACK AND MESS WITH IT!!! If however this is not the 10th anniversary edition of the RX-7 then I would say that if it is drivable then it would probably be a real good project car.

10th AE's are 1988 and yes it is NON-TURBO so Black it goes! lol
I should also add that I need to find a cheap TurboII hood and Spoiler even with with paint peeling I dont care before I give this thing a paint job. I have a air intake idea that could use the hood but if that dosent work out then well it will at least look a bit nicer!

Does anyone have any suggestions for me.. I already know what to look for I have read Aaron's guide to buying a RX-7 a few times.. Anything I should say to him to make him feel like it is worth the price I am throwing at him.. and yes this guy knows a bit about rotaries so I cant fool him as easilly.

I say leave it white. I think it looks better, and, it doesn't show imperfections as well, so probably better for a show car. plus, you'd have to pull out the engine and all the components to paint in there, or it'd look kinda funny.

just something to think about.

Yah I was thinking about that but I might just paint what I can in the engine bay now and when I have to replace the engine then the bay will get a fresh job.
My girlfriend has a wierd re-occuring dream that she dies in a white car so I am not saying I am changing the color because of that but it's something to motivate me or elce she will never get into it.. lol
Yah and I am getting the pant job for cheap. It's from a friend who does this so I am just paying for the paint and like 100 bucks for his time.
